Try It... You'll Like It.

If you’re looking for old fashioned sausage and other delicious pork products, then Pep’s Pork is your place, where home grown is the only way to do it.

Second generation hog producer, Jim Poepping and his wife, Helen, began Pep’s Pork “by accident” in 1982. Jim was working at Kraft Foods at the time and was looking for a way to farm full time. Jim and Helen began making pork sausage and other products in their basement with the help of Jim’s mother, two uncles, an aunt and their children. Pep’s Pork grew from there. Today Pep’s Pork has expanded to a fourth generation, family owned and operated business, with a combined total of over 100 years experience. Even the grandkids pitch in and help.

From start to finish, the family has complete quality control of their product – from the 1,400 hogs their son Scott and his family raise each year, to the feed they raise on the 280 acres of farmland. They also have secret recipes, some are generations old and others are developed by trial and error.

No longer a small operation, the spotless, modern facility is large enough to accompany the processing of hogs, custom order beef and venison and an on-site slaughter facility. With more than 40 items available to customers, Jim, Helen, their family and employees put in long hours. They do everything onsite – even smoke the sausage in a traditional, oak wood smoker or a computerized smoker.

“It’s nice to know we’ve built a business and brand based on good quality and good-tasting pork products,” says Jim, who enjoys being his own boss.

Pep’s Pork delivers their product to several convenience stores in the area, sells their products at a Farmer’s Market in Minneapolis and at their on-farm meat locker. Pep’s Pork is a truly owned family business.
